As a student in this Literacy Cohort, one of the aspects that has best helped me to grow as a teacher has been the collaboration and sharing of ideas that happened in our courses with other teachers, surrounding educational topics. The teaching profession gives teachers a sense of purpose and through this purpose we can create relationships which both benefit us as well as our students.

We are a Montessori /Public school working to integrate our Montessori philosophy with the Common Core curriculum in mixed age classrooms. Like many schools around the county we struggle to meet the needs of our different populations, particularly our Second Language Learners. In this presentation I focus on different areas where oral language could be developed in the otherwise quiet Montessori setting.
